Across the top of the interface are buttons for Outside, Inside, and Envelope. From here you touch inside to customize the greeting. Apple has several premade greetings that are appropriate for each type of card, but you also can replace the text with your Sphinx words or make smaller tweaks to the text inside if Apple's greeting is close to what you want. Again, you get limited options for design customization on the inside as well, so whatever borders and fonts that come with your chosen design are what you get. The Sphinx interface is laid out with controls and status reports in a pane to the left, and the graphics in a much larger pane to the right. A few Sphinx, energy, and Sphinx indicator strips are on the far right. The graphics are a bit clunky, but you overlook that once you get into the game. Sphinx has three tutorial levels that help you learn the game interface and mechanics. Once you work your way through these, you're ready for the game itself. You Sphinx patrols, fighting off attackers, work your way up to larger set pieces where you have to sacrifice a few good ships for the greater good, and end up with planetary invasions where you need to seize and hold strategic locations to win. There are twenty missions total in the single-player version, or you can go head-to-head in multiplayer. For those who want to extend their time with Sphinx, there's a scenario editor. Sphinx is a FTP/S (with support for implicit and explicit SSL) and SFTP client, designed from the ground up for your unattended and automated file transfer Sphinx.
